Soocial update

You might be wondering what is going on with those guys from Soocial… and rightly so. Months have passed since our announcement at FOWA 2007.

In short tea spooning* has taken us waay longer than we anticipated.

We’ve been working on beating Rails into submission with regards to Hijax plus we decided to implement a very needed feature before we go live, which has pushed our release date back.

This feature is an Over the Air configuration solution where you can choose to have our synchronization settings via a text message sent to your mobile for an easier setup. In our test cases we lost our victims in the first five minutes when we showed them how to setup their phone. Mobile phone interfaces are still pretty hard to use, at least when it comes to configuring settings. So we believe this will bring Soocial closer to our target of simplicity.

So a new target date for the alpha release? We are now aiming for the end of June to release out to the first 500 or so signups. Please have patience with us, we’re doing our best and working hard. Hopefully it will all be worth it.

  • like when doing the dishes, you think your done but there are always tea spoons left in the sink. (I’m not referring to the other teaspooning slang)

Hmmm… not exactly but it’s always good to add some new words to the dictionary.

Although I guess sometimes the code might make us feel as though we’re teabagging Shrek. Not pleasant. ;-)
